Fiesta Hermosa!

On the weekend of the wedding, the town of Hermosa Beach is putting on their big festival, Fiesta Hermosa. It runs from 10 am to 6 pm on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

It's the ”largest arts & crafts fair in Southern California”. Over 270 artists, ceramicists, jewelers, sculptors, and handicrafters. Two stages with live music. And the Kiddie Carnival with games for kids from 3 to 10 years old.

You can get more information at http://www.fiestahermosa.com/index.html

A Sightseeing Shortlist

We've gotten some questions from guests about what there is to do and see in the area. And what the distances are to some tourist attractions. So the following is a shortlist of the sights and attractions that So Cal has to offer.

From Torrance the beach is only 3.5 miles away. Bikes are available for rent in Redondo Beach so you can ride The Strand, a paved bike path on the beach. In the south the path begins at the Torrance County Beach and it ends 22 miles to the north at Will Rogers State Beach in Pacific Palisades. It's midpoint is near the marina at the southern end of Playa del Rey. The marina cuts The Strand in two and after that point you have to ride on surface streets before you can pick up the path again in Venice Beach. Locals usually turn around at Playa del Rey.

There's lots of hiking trails a short drive away on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Anywhere you go on the peninsula you hike you'll get beautiful coastal views, wild flowers, and wildlife. Some of the trails are good for strollers and small children. There's also lighthouses to visit and access to beaches and tide pools. Watch for pods of dolphins playing in the surf! You can get more info on the trails at http://www.pvplc.org/_lands/trails.asp

Here's the distances to some other tourist attractions...
Downtown LA: 20 mi north off I-110 N.
Hollywood Hills and Griffith Park: 27 mi north off I-110 N.
Santa Monica: 20 mi north off I-405 N.
     Malibu: 40 mi north off CA-1 N/PCH
     Disneyland: 30 mi east off CA-91 E.
San Diego: 120 mi south off I-5 S
Santa Barbara: 105 mi north off CA-1 N/PCH and US-101

Email us if you have questions about any other sights in So Cal.
